Subscribe to Standard & Create Your First AI Light Show

6 min read

This guide walks you through the full journey — from subscribing to the Standard plan, all the way to downloading your first AI-generated Tesla light show. If you've never used AI Studio before, start here.

What you'll need: A credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express). We use Stripe for payments — your card details are never stored on our servers.

Part 1: Subscribe to Standard

Step 1: Go to the Pricing page

Navigate to Pricing. You'll see two plans: Free and Standard.

The Free plan lets you convert up to 5 MP3 files into light shows per month — great for trying things out. But to use AI Studio and generate original music, you need Standard.

Step 2: Click "Get Standard"

On the Standard plan card, click the subscribe button. You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout page.

Step 3: Enter your payment details

On the Stripe checkout page, enter your card number, expiration date, and CVC. Stripe also accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay if your browser supports them.

The charge is $19.99/month, billed on the same date each month. You can cancel anytime (we'll cover that in a separate guide).

Step 4: You're subscribed!

After payment, you'll be redirected back to LightMyTesla. Your account now has:

  • 200 Bolts (⚡) — your monthly AI generation credits
  • AI Studio access — create original songs from text prompts
  • Unlimited MP3 conversions — no more 5/month limit
  • Privacy controls — keep your creations private if you want

About Bolts: Each AI song generation costs 2 Bolts. With 200 Bolts per month, you can generate up to 100 songs. Unused Bolts expire at the end of your billing cycle. Converting AI songs to light shows is always free.

Part 2: Generate Your First AI Song

Step 5: Open AI Studio

From the dashboard, click AI Studio. You'll see a text area where you describe the song you want.

Step 6: Give your song a title

At the top, type a name for your song. This is optional but highly recommended — it becomes the filename when you download, and helps you find it later.

Good examples:

  • "Weekend Road Trip"
  • "Emma's Graduation Surprise"
  • "Holiday Parking Lot Show"

Step 7: Write your prompt

In the description field, tell the AI what kind of song you want. You have 400 characters. The more detail you give, the better the result.

"An energetic electronic dance track with a driving beat, perfect for a parking lot light show. Build up to a big drop at 30 seconds. Uplifting and fun, no vocals."

You can specify mood, genre, instruments, tempo, vocals — or just describe the feeling you're going for. See our AI Studio prompt guide for more tips.

Step 8: Click Generate

Hit Generate Song. The AI gets to work — this typically takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes. You can watch the progress indicator on screen.

This costs 2 Bolts. Your remaining balance is shown in the dashboard header.

Part 3: Get Your Light Show

Step 9: Preview and convert

Once the song is ready, you'll see three options:

  • Play — Listen to the song in your browser
  • Download MP3 — Save just the audio
  • Make Light Show — Convert it to a Tesla-ready ZIP (free, no Bolts)

Click Make Light Show. The system will analyze the music and choreograph a light sequence. This takes about 30-60 seconds.

Option A: Wait for it

If you stay on the page, you'll see the conversion progress. When it's done, download buttons appear immediately — grab the ZIP and you're good to go.

Option B: Come back later

Don't want to wait? No problem. Close the page and go do something else. Your light show will be generated in the background.

When you're ready, go to Activity in the dashboard. You'll find all your past generations there — with download buttons for both the MP3 and the light show ZIP.

Tip: Activity is your personal library of everything you've created. Songs, light shows, downloads — it's all there. Bookmark it!

Step 10: Load it on your Tesla

Unzip the downloaded file. Inside you'll find a LightShow/ folder with your MP3 and matching FSEQ file. Copy the entire folder to a USB drive, plug it into your Tesla, and start the show from the Toybox menu.

What's next? Try different prompts to explore different genres. Share your favorites on Explore for the community to enjoy. And if you run out of Bolts before your next billing date, you can purchase a Supercharger Pack for an extra 160 Bolts.
